Halalji Inc. is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation. Account Information

When you register, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and password. Merchants additionally provide business name, address, halal certification details, and banking information for payouts.

Order Information

When you place an order, we collect your delivery address, order details, special instructions, and transaction history. This information is necessary to fulfill your orders.

Payment Information

Payment transactions are processed by third-party payment processors (such as Stripe). We do not store your full credit card numbers. We retain transaction records including the last four digits of your payment card, transaction amounts, and dates.

Device & Usage Information

We automatically collect information about how you access and use our platform, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, and the dates and times of your visits. We may use cookies and similar tracking technologies.

Location Information

With your permission, we collect precise location data to provide delivery services and show you nearby merchants. You can disable location access in your device settings, though this may limit certain features.

Communications

We retain records of your communications with our support team, including emails, chat messages, and call logs, to help resolve disputes and improve our service.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Process and fulfill orders and payments
  • Create and manage your account
  • Connect customers with merchants and facilitate transactions
  • Provide customer support and resolve disputes
  • Send transactional emails, order confirmations, and delivery updates
  • Send marketing communications (only with your consent, and you may opt out at any time)
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve our platform and user experience
  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud, security breaches, and other prohibited activities
  • Comply with legal obligations under Canadian law

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share your information with:

Merchants

When you place an order, we share your name, delivery address, phone number, and order details with the merchant fulfilling your order. This is necessary for order preparation and delivery.

Payment Processors

We use Stripe and other PCI-DSS compliant payment processors to handle payment transactions. These processors receive your payment information as necessary to complete transactions.

Delivery Partners

If a merchant uses third-party delivery, we may share your delivery address and contact information with the delivery provider to fulfill your order.

Service Providers

We engage trusted third-party companies to perform services on our behalf, such as cloud hosting, analytics, email delivery, and customer support software. These providers are contractually bound to protect your information.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements.

Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such transfer.

4. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance your experience on our platform. Cookies are small data files stored on your device that help us remember your preferences, maintain your session, and understand how you interact with our platform.

We use: Essential cookies (required for the platform to function), Analytics cookies (to understand usage patterns and improve our service), and Marketing cookies (to deliver relevant advertising, only with your consent). You can control cookie settings through your browser settings. Note that disabling certain cookies may affect platform functionality.

5. Data Security

We implement commercially reasonable technical, administrative, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. This includes SSL/TLS encryption for data in transit, encrypted storage for sensitive data, access controls and authentication requirements for our systems, and regular security assessments. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and encourage you to use strong passwords and protect your account credentials.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. We also retain information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 90 days, except where retention is required by law (such as transaction records required for tax purposes, which we retain for 7 years).

You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.

Right to Correction

You may request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete information.

Right to Withdraw Consent

You may withdraw consent for non-essential data processing at any time.

Right to Deletion

You may request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements.

Right to Complain

You have the right to file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Right to Know

You may request information about our privacy practices and how your data is used.

8. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us immediately at salam@halalji.com. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify you by email or through a prominent notice on our platform. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information.
